Polyvvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) also commonly called Polyvidone or Povidone, is a water-soluble polymer made from the monomer N-vinylpyrrolidone. PVP is soluble in water and other polar solvents. PVP is used as a binder in tablet making and is used in many pharmaceutical tablets,it simply passes through the body when taken orally.The binding effect of PVP is achieved both in wet and dry granulation and in direct tablet compresion.
Povidone is a hygroscopic polymer ,supplied in white or creamy white powder or flakes,ranging from low to high viscosity & low to high molecular weight, which characterized by K Value. It's easily soluble in water and many other organic solvents,with excellent hygroscopisty,film-forming, adhesive, chemical stability and toxicological safeness characters.
